As the third largest expatriate population numbering almost a million here in the UAE, Filipinos are a huge market to tap even from decades prior to today.

In its vision to cater to all nationalities to suit their tastes and for Filipinos to enjoy the products from the Philippines, Shankar Trading Co. LLC has and still continues to be the pioneers of bridging the gap between the distance for Filipinos who prefer using Philippine brands that give them a taste of home.

From its humble beginnings at the local Al Ras Market in 1985, STC has since grown to be a diversified company. “Since then the company has grown organically with interests in Wholesale, Distribution, Retail and Manufacturing of consumer goods,” said the company in its official website.

STC is likewise the first major importer and distributor of Filipino and FMCG products in the UAE and has since grown its portfolio, acquiring more and more brands as the years go by. The company has since established itself as the main player for stores all across the UAE who require Filipino and other ethnic brands.

“Today, we are importers and distributors of fast-moving consumer goods, ambient and frozen products, and are the largest importers of specialised Filipino products in the Gulf region, with an extensive product range and constant availability,” said Shankar Trading Company Director Raju Gidwani

“Our vision is to tap the mainstream markets accordingly, working for all communities. And recently launched halal-range from Philippines into the UAE. Even notice lots of Filipino brands are loved suitable in the palates of other nationalities,” furthers the STC Director.

The brands that STC currently distribute in the UAE from Philippines are (but not limited to): URC, NutriAsia, Oishi, Century, Rebisco, MY San, Aling Conching, RFM, Leslie’s, KSK Boy Bawang, Unilever, Sarangani Bay Prime, San Miguel Magnolia, their private label – Siblings, and many more.

In addition, the number 1 Indian snack brand Haldiram’s that extends from dry and frozen products, the top selling Malaysian brand Oriental, Ibumie, Lingham’s as well as Thailand brands Teptip, Thai Choice, Monty, Tai Tai, are all loved by the Filipinos.

“STC continues in its path to expand its operations across the UAE with their state-of-the-art logistic facilities and dedicated team of international visual merchandisers and retail experts in its efforts to serve more Filipinos and other expatriates who wish to savor the flavors and enjoy the experience of consuming authentic Filipino brands shipped straight from the Philippines towards the shelves of grocery and convenience stores right here in the UAE,” said STC Director Raju Gidwani.
