Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana led the celebrations of the 121st Philippine Independence Day in Abu Dhabi with an uplifting message for global Filipinos to look forward to the country’s bright future.
In a message sent to The Filipino Times, the ambassador reminds Filipino expats to be appreciative of the sacrifices of the heroes spanning centuries that fought for the liberty and freedom that the Philippines currently enjoys. “This day reminds us once again of our inspiring history as we honor the sacrifices and courage of our forefathers who secured the freedom that we, Filipinos, enjoy and cherish as a people,” said Quintana.
She also urged everyone to reflect and think forward as they face more challenges in the ever-changing global scene: “Independence Day also gives us the opportunity to reflect on our past achievements and at the same time, examine ourselves as we confront the challenges that lie ahead.”
Quintana is likewise optimistic on the outlook of the Philippines on the international scene, citing an enhanced global presence through forming strategic partnerships: “On this auspicious day, let us celebrate the country’s continued economic growth, massive gains in the peace process in the Southern Philippines, and its enhanced global presence in the community of nations through regional and international engagements and partnerships.”
The ambassador encourages Filipinos to become more involved with their community to help towards nation-building and spreading the positive image of Filipinos globally. “We call on all Filipinos overseas, our modern-day heroes, to remain confident in our country’s bright prospects, and implore you to participate in nation-building,” said Quintana
The Bayanihan Council, under the patronage of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, will be organizing and hosting a day-long celebration for the 121st Philippine Independence Day this coming June 21 at the Abu Dhabi Breakwater Theatre. Entrance is free for everyone.
