This year’s Philippine Independence Day celebrations will emphasize and feature the proud-worthy essence of how it truly is to be a Filipino experiencing the freedom we all deserve.

This year, despite the event being held in Dubai, the spotlight is also going to be well-observed in all of the Northern Emirates – Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah.

Celebrations have also taken off the ground in Abu Dhabi which will highlight, among other activities, the much-awaited Mutya ng Kasarinlan beauty pageant spearheaded by the United Cebuanos – Abu Dhabi chapter, led by their president, 2017 TFT Fashion Designer of the Year, Aldwin ‘Jlo’ Ornopia.

Meantime, it is as festive as can be in the Northern Emirates with exceptional performances on-stage featuring the Sinulog, Kadayawan, Pista sa Nayon, Karakol, and Igorot festival for the segment Piyestang Filipino.

This year’s celebrations will also showcase Dubai-based, world-class talents Izhcka Zeta, Garimon Escandor Roferos, Ryan Pacioles, Harvey Cenit, Benj Dela Rosa, and Angel Villar de Jesus with their internationally-renowned works of art in a dazzling catwalk for Ystilo at Moda.

Another pioneering segment set to entertain the crowd is Pinoy Salamangka, featuring spectacular talents behind the whiteface make-up of UAE’s amusing clowns

The event will also feature two Kapamilya stars: actor and model Zanjoe Marudo and R&B singer-songwriter and host Kyla.

Meantime, students from Al Alfiah Private School, Far Eastern Private School, New Filipino Private School, The Philippine School, and United International Private School are also all prepped up to showcase festive cultural dances of the Philippine regions through the segment Mga Sayaw Natin.

Meantime, sing and dance presentations will also dominate the progra with segments such as Himig at Awit – with Singing Champions, Indak – A Hiphop and Modern Dance Showdown, and the highly anticipated debut stage performance of old school Pinoy rockband, Aswang de Makina, after being hailed as champs for Bandigmaan: Musika para sa Kalayaan 2019.

As the celebration of Kalayaan 2019 draws near, participating organizations and corporate groups are also reminded to be at the venue before 9am in preparation for the fabulous parade which is expected to be gathered by more than a hundred Filipino organizations.

The 121st Philippine Independence Day 2019 celebration this June 14, 2019 at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) has been made possible with the dedication of Consul General Paul Raymond Cortes and spouse Dr. Yasmin Balajadia-Cortes. Alongside the consulate officials are the selfless service and excellent leadership of Chairman Josie Conlu and Vice-Chair Jason Roi Bucton together with the rest of the PID 2019 organizing committee team.
