Dating inmate na napagbintangan lamang, isa nang ganap na criminologist

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Isang dating inmate na nakapagtapos ng pag-aaral sa tulong ng Alternative Learning System (ALS) program ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang nakapasa sa criminology board exam 2018.

Tubong Basilan, inakusahan at nakulong si Jumar Ullang sa kasong murder at multiple frustrated murder noong siya ay nasa high school pa lamang. Nakulong si Ullang nang maraming taon sa Isabel City Jail para pagdusahan ang kasalanang hindi naman niya ginawa.

Ngunit hindi naging hadlang ito upang siya ay magpursigi at magtapos ng kanyang pag-aaral. Habang nasa kulungan, sinikap ni Ullang na makapagtapos ng high school sa tulong ng ALS program ng DepEd.

Matapos nyang kumpletuhin ang programa, na-dismiss ang kaso ni Ullang dahil sa lack of merit na naging dahilan ng kanyang paglaya.

Pumasa si Ullang sa katatapos lamang na criminology board exam at nais maging kawani ng Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) bilang isang jail officer.

Ayon sa report ng philstar, nais magsilbi ni Ullang sa BJMP upang mabantayan ang kanyang mga naging kapwa inmates, at matulungang makapagbago.

“My ambition now is to join the BJMP so I can also help watch over inmates and help them reform for good,” sabi pa nya.
