‘Forever grateful,’ Michael Cinco says of his TFT Rizal Award

Iconic Dubai-based international couturier, Michael Cinco, whose works include Kris Aquino’s gown in “Crazy Rich Asians,” and Swarovski heiress Victoria Swarovski’s $1-million wedding dress, said he is “forever grateful” for having been a recipient of the much-coveted The Filipino Times Rizal Awards which was bestowed upon him in 2015.

“I feel honored to have been chosen. It really showed me that hard work pays off and taught me to always stay focused. I am aware that it is a great privilege and that it comes with an immense responsibility, too. I am proud to be a TFT Rizal Awardee because I know what I represent and I will forever be grateful for having received it,” Cinco said.

He added: “I’m proud that I chose to be unconventional and I feel fortunate to have found passionate hearts and minds to help me make this things to happen.”

Cinco said the TFT Rizal Award “made me a better and more confident person.”

“It gave me a vision to make my home country, the Philippines proud.”

Cinco was named as Fashion Designer of the Year and the 1st TFT Rizal Awardee, a coveted distinction inspired by Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal’s accomplishments, during the inaugural TFT Awards in 2015.

Tracing his roots from humble beginnings in a remote village in Catbalogan, Samar, Cinco took the fashion industry by storm through his sheer talent, hard work and creativity.

Today, Cinco is considered one of the most sought after designers in the world. His designs had been worn by various Hollywood A-Listers like Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera, Mila Kunis and Sofia Vergara among others.

His creations had also been worn by Arab and European royalties as well as the Philippines’ who’s who like Marian Rivera and husband Dingdong Dantes, Julia Baretto, to mention a few.

He has appeared in America’s Next Top Model Cycle 16 and 17, followed by Asia’s Next Top Model and just early this year China’s Next Top Model. He was also tapped by Hollywood filmmakers to dress Mila Kunis in Hollywood Sci-Fi hit movie, Jupiter Ascending. Cinco’s was the first ever
