WATCH: Meghan Markle says “Salamat po”, netizens went nuts

Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle was warmly welcomed by a crowd when they visited Edinburgh, Scotland last week.

One of the members of the crowd was a Filipino named Jenny Ulay was able to shake the hands of the royal bride-to-be and even greeted her when Markle passed by them.

Ulay was obviously excited to meet Markle who were all smiles when she talked to the Filipina.

Markle even greeted Ulay who was celebrating her wedding anniversary.

But one of the things that shocked Ulay and and the rest of the online Filipino community was when Markle suddenly said “Salamat po.”

Many started to wonder where did Markle learned how to speak a common Filipino phrase and how did she know its meaning.

Some netizens speculated that maybe her fiance, Prince Harry, taught her a few Filipino phrases because a Filipino nanny took care of the latter when he was younger.

It can be recalled that royal nanny Araceli “Lillie” Piccio, who is from Bacolod City, made headline news a few years ago when she was the only Filipino who was invited to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

It is safe to say that Piccio taught Princes William and Harry a few Filipino words when she was taking care of them, which Harry passed on to her soon-to-be bride.

  1. Maybe she’s just smart by herself. She did have a life before Harry, for your information.
