The song “Jopay” by the Philippines’ rock band Mayonnaise has been a classic OPM hit since its release in 2004. The band wrote the song about Jopay, one of the original members of the dance group Sexbomb.
Jopay and Mayonnaise finally got to meet during the band’s concert in Lucena, Quezon Province, which was held as part of the OPM band’s 20th-anniversary tour.
In fan videos posted online, the Sexbomb dancer joined Mayonnaise on stage where they talked about the song and took a photo.
On an Instagram post, Jopay showed a photo of her with the band, with the caption, “FINALLY!!!”

The band’s vocalist Monty Macalinao revealed the reason he wrote the song during an episode of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.” He said that he wrote “Jopay” in 2003 after seeing the dancer act in the Lenten special of “Eat Bulaga!” and got the idea of writing a love song for a celebrity.
It was also revealed that Jopay was supposed to be in the music video but was busy with Sexbomb at the time.
The song remains to be one of OPM’s top hits, which recently became viral because of TikTok user Kosang Marlon’s sintunado version.
Meanwhile, the Sexbomb Girls has recently reunited for an ad. Jopay and fellow dancer Rochelle Pangilinan lip-synced to “Jopay” for a TikTok video.
