‘Nagsasarili?’ Jake Zyrus reveals problem on SOGIE bill

Jake Zyrus has pointed a potential problem once lawmakers agreed to pass the Sexual Orientation Gender Identity Expression (SOGIE) equality bill.

Unlike those other members of the LGBT community who are going all out in defending the proposed anti-discrimination bill, Jake Zyrus is taking a different course.

“Yung equality parang napupunta lang sa isang side, e,” Jake said during the press launch of his upcoming album.

“Sa totoo lang, nalilito ako. Nalilito ako kasi, minsan nararamdaman ko. hindi sa lahat, ha, but some are taking advantage of what it really means,” Jake said.

Jake hopes that an anti-discrimination bill will be pushed rather than a bill that seeks to protect a specific class or community.

“Ang problema kasi when you mention that, it only focuses on one group, automatic. Parang eto lang yun, parang nasasarili, nado-dominate. That’s what I don’t like,” he added.

The singer who was previously known as Charice Pempengco before coming out and became a transgender man said that if Filipinos will be taught the right values and respect for all, there is no need for a bill like SOGIE.
