Filipinos have the knack to quip that they’re ‘soul-searching’ when asked about their current relationship status, or even about their current careers. TFC Movies and Star Cinema’s upcoming film “Between Maybes” touches a bit on both spectrums as it stars Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson in a film directed by Jason Paul Laxamana and produced by Black Sheep.

The story follows Hazel (Barretto) who was at the turning point of her career as she experiences troubles and failures on taking control of her life. With a desire to escape towards nowhere, she books a random flight that lands her at a secluded prefecture of Saga, Japan.

There she finds Louie (Anderson) who is likewise in isolation following a heartbreak from his family. From there, the film follows their blooming relationship amidst the silence, isolation as well as the special connection that the two bond over together over those intimate, fleeting moments.

The film is produced by the same production studio behind the blockbuster hit “Alone/Together” and is expected to hit UAE cinemas starting May 23.
