She might have already won the crown but the real work is only about to begin.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has been inactive on social media these past few weeks but she recently took to Instagram to share that she is now on her way to New York, the home of the Miss Universe Organization, to officially start her reign.
Just like past Miss Universe winners, Gray will be based in New York during her reign. As part of her win, she will be staying at a luxury accommodation in a New York City apartment together with Miss USA 2018 Sarah Rose Summers and Miss Teen USA 2018 Hailey Colborn.
Through an Instagram post, Gray said that she took some time off from social media to quietly spend Christmas and New Year with her family in Manila.
After the holidays, Gray said in the Instagram post that she has “packed up [her] home in Manila and now ready to move to [her] new home in New York City.”
The newly crowned queen also continued to wear patriotic ensembles with her barong-inspired jacket by designer Jor-El Espina, denim jeans, thigh high boots, and her luggage which bears an an emblem depiction of the Philippine flag.
Fans who spotted Gray at the airport also posted photos of her before she was about to board her flight.

Gray also addressed her 3.8 million Instagram followers and wrote: “I have to say I’m most nervous about experiencing the chill of NYC in winter but would love to know, what are your recommendations to see, do and eat?! Let me know in the comments below!!”
Upon arriving in New York, Gray is expected to do some interviews and other media appearances.
