Actress-singer Jenine Desiderio decided to speak up after her daughter Janella Salvador revealed that she was physically abused by her on-screen partner and rumored boyfriend Elmo Magalona.
It can be recalled that Salvador said in an interview with Ricky Lo’s Funfare for The Philippine Star that she experienced physical abuse from Magalona twice when the latter would get heavily intoxicated.
She said that one of those two incidents happened during a party that was hosted by one of her friends.
After the article was published and made headlines in several entertainment websites, Desiderio has aired her opinions about the story in an exclusive phone interview with PEP.ph.
She said that she felt relieved since her daughter’s revelations have somehow helped them to grow closer once again.
“I felt a great deal of relief after reading the articles containing Janella’s tell-all.
“It’s like a huge rock has been lifted from my back and the darkness has been replaced with light.
“Now our wound can start healing. Thank you for all your prayers. God is good all the time,” PEP.ph quoted Desiderio as saying.
She also added that Magalona has personally visited her at their home to apologize for the incidents.
Desiderio did not reveal much details about Magalona’s visit but only said that it happened three weeks ago.
“Elmo talked to me three weeks after the incident, after Star Magic [people] talked to him.
“That’s when he promised me to post a video apology of himself.
“We waited for weeks but nothing came out so I guess that’s what prompted Janella to speak up,” she said.
Nevertheless, Desiderio said that she would like to thank everyone who understood her side in the whole situation given that she is the mother of the victim.
