Duterte sends video message to Sharon Cuneta after missing her concerts

Megastar Sharon Cuneta took to Instagram on October 9 to share a video message she received from President Rodrigo Duterte after he missed her two concerts in Davao and Manila.

Cuneta went to Davao City last August 2 to stage a concert titled ‘Sharon 40th Mega Philippine Tour’ at the SMX Davao Convention Center. She even met Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio during her time there.

However, Cuneta said that the president was not able to make it to her concert back then due to bad weather.

“Tatay PRRD DU30 (GongDi) missed my Davao concert because he was supposed to fly to Davao from Bukidnon. Then the weather turned bad and he had to go by land, so of course it was a long drive, and he couldn’t make it back in time,” Cuneta wrote.

In the said video message, Duterte congratulated Cuneta, who he referred to as the “singer of my life”, for her successful showbiz career in the past four decades.

“Hi Sharon, the singer of my life, you are celebrating your 40th anniversary in show business. I wish you more luck, plenty of it. Mabuhay ka and may you remain beautiful for the next 1000 years,” he said.

The president also explained that he was not able to attend Cuneta’s 40th-anniversary concert in Araneta Coliseum last

“I would have wanted to attend your concert but some pressing problems, you know in Mindanao, that would have needed my urgent attention, so I had to go there in the name of public service and for our country. I know that you share that same sentiment with me,” the president added.
As a reply to Duterte’s message, Cuneta wrote on Instagram, “There are more important things than a concert when you are the President of the Philippines… Thank you for this message, Mr. President! It means so much to me. May God guide and bless you always.”
