“Crazy Rich Asians” author thanks Filipinos for supporting film adaptation of his novel

Kevin Kwan, the author of the best-selling novel “Crazy Rich Asians”, thanked Filipino moviegoers who supported and watched the film adaptation of his book.

Kwan posted on Instagram two photos of the Filipino actors who appeared on the film, namely Kris Aquino who played Princess Intan, and Nico Santos who took on the role of Oliver T’sien, captioned with a message dedicated to his Filipino fans.

“Thank you Philippines for making Crazy Rich Asians the number 1 movie in the country, making it Warner Brothers’ biggest opening weekend of 2018 and the biggest opening weekend for an English romantic comedy of all time! Thank you for supporting my books from the very beginning! Mahal ko kayo!” the Singaporean-American author said.

Warner Bros. Pictures-Philippines announced on Facebook that the film adaptation of “Crazy Rich Asians” was a hit among Filipinos after it grossed P82.7 million in the Philippines since its premiere on August 22.

Due to its blockbuster success, it dethroned Jennifer Lopez’ “Maid in Manhattan” and is now the record-holder for the biggest opening weekend for a foreign romantic comedy in the Philippines.
