Julia Barretto said in an interview that it is her dream to remake “Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita”, one of Claudine Barretto and Rico Yan’s most iconic films.
“Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita” is a 1998 drama romance film starring Claudine Barretto, Rico Yan, and Diether Ocampo.
It follows the story of campus “bad girl” Mela, played by Claudine, with a painful past, who later falls in love with the rich, intelligent, and good-mannered Miguel, played by Rico.
It is one of the most popular love triangle stories in Philippine show business.
In an interview with Push Now Na, the younger Barretto said that she has been very vocal of doing a remake of the film.
“Gawin na natin… Sana dumating iyong perfect time,” she said.
Julia added that she would like her on-screen partner and rumored boyfriend Joshua Garcia to play Rico’s “good guy” character.
Julia first expressed her interest in landing this role last year via Twitter.

Julia and Joshua have also been compared to the Claudine-Rico love team due to their resemblance and on-screen chemistry.
