A female maid in Dubai on Wednesday, December 5, stood trial before the court after threatening to kill herself or her employer’s family if her passport would not be given to her.
According to the employer, the maid was shouting inside their residence in Al Barsha, demanding her passport so she could travel back to her home country, reported Gulf News.
The maid then stormed off to the kitchen and took a knife which she pointed to her belly, threatening her employers that she would kill herself if her demands will not be met.
The maid also threatened the employer’s family and even pointed the knife to the employer’s 5-year old son.
The kid’s grandmother also sustained minor injuries after attempting to control the maid.
Before the Dubai Court of First Instance, the maid pleaded not guilty saying, “I am not guilty … I just want my passport to travel home.”
A ruling will be heard on December 12.
