Telecommunication giant PLDT on Wednesday, November 28, conducted its first 5G to 5G video call.
In a statement, PLDT said that the 5G video call was conducted between PLDT’s chief technology advisor Joachim Horn, who was in PLDT headquarters in Makati, and Clark Development Corporation president Noel Manankil, who was in Clark.
“By bringing 5G to Makati, we are putting the possibilities of 5G closer to the Philippines’ premier commercial hub, which is home to the country’s most ultra-connected enterprises and workforce, Juan Victor Hernandez, PLDT and Smart’s Senior Vice President and Head of Enterprise said.
PLDT also claimed that initial tests showed that 5G speeds went as fast as 700 mbps.
“5G is real and it is now here in Makati and Clark,” PLDT CEO Manny Pangilinan said at the event at PLDT’s Makati headquarters.
PLDT added that aside from Clark and Makati, the company is planning to establish more Smart 5G cities in the country.
The company is expected to fully introduce 5G network in the Philippines by the first half of 2019.
