Flight attendants or cabin crew members of airlines are present on flights to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers aboard. But this Filipina flight attendant went beyond her call of duty, after she breastfed one passenger’s baby.
Patrisha Organo, a 24-year-old flight attendant of the Philippine Airlines, did not hesitate to help a fellow mom in need after hearing an infant’s cry on board.
On a now viral Facebook post, Organo shared the story of how she was able to help a flight passenger to appease her baby’s cries through breastfeeding the infant herself.
According to Organo, she heard an infant’s cry after their flight took off. “Everything went smoothly until after take off, I heard an infant’s cry, a cry that will make you want to do anything to help,” she said.
As a member of the cabin crew, Organo immediately approached the baby’s mother and asked if everything was okay. “I tried to tell her to feed her hungry child. Teary-eyed, she told me that she ran out of formula milk,” she shared.
Upon hearing the words, Organo shared she felt a pinch in her heart. She also felt a panic as there was no formula milk onboard for the crying infant to drink.
“I thought to myself, there’s only one thing I could offer and that’s my own milk. And so I offered,” she told.
After suggesting her idea to the baby’s mother, the line administrator of the flight assisted both Organo and the mom to the plane galley, where the attendant breastfed the baby. “The baby started rooting, she was so hungry,” she added.
She continued to feed the flight passenger’s baby until she fell asleep. After breastfeeding, she escorted the mother and the baby back to their seat.
“I escorted her back to her seat and just before I left, the mother sincerely thanked me.Thank you, Lord for the gift of mother’s milk,” she concluded.
