DUBAI: Years ago, Karen Henson Jones was part of the brutal corporate rat race. Then, suddenly, the then 30-year-old Cornell University and London Business School educated Filipino-American had a near-death experience that changed her life forever.
The subsequent surgeries, loss of her job, and being in constant pain plunged Jones into a downward spiral of depression. To cope, she set out on a spiritual journey that took her to India, Bhutan, and Italy. Strangely enough, the events that followed her near-death experience opened her eyes and made her feel alive like never before.
Jones has chronicled her experiences in her book, Heart of Miracles – My Journey Back to Life After a Near-Death Experience. The book was recognized in the United States by The Washington Post and Google. Pop star Britney Spears recommended it to her fans as a “great read.” Jones has been featured on CNN and in The Washington Post, to name a few.
“This book is a flashlight for people in the dark,” she says. The book challenges readers to look at life from a new perspective and believe in a higher power; and provides insights into the age-old question, ”What is the purpose of life?”
Jones is coming to Dubai in March to participate in the 10th edition of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature on Mar. 1 to 10. She will be joining nearly 200 bestselling international authors including Jacqueline Wilson, Anthony Horowitz, and Mark Billingham. Home-grown talents will also be participating in the event.
The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature will take place in several venues, the main part of which will be held at the InterContinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City. The annual event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
