PH nabs 3 medals so far in 2017 SEA Games

The Philippines men archery trio delivered the country’s third medal in the 29th Southeast Asian Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The archers trio of Earl Benjamin Yap, Joseph Benjamin Vicencio, and Paul Marton Dela Cruz bounced back from the defeat in the semi-finals against Singapore and won a bronze medal in the compound event on Thursday against Vietnam, 233-230.

We are happy with bronze, hopefully tomorrow we will win gold in mixed,” the Philippine Inquirer quoted Dela Cruz as saying.

Dela Cruz won the country’s first bronze medal on Wednesday during the men’s individual archery category.

The Philippines nabbed its first silver medal in the men’s chinlone event portion of Sepak Takraw.

Team Philippines, made up of John-John Bobier, Rhemwil Catana, Emmanuel Escote, Ronsited Gabayeron, Joeart Jumawan, John Carlo Lee, John Jeffrey Morcillos, Regie Pabriga, and Alvin Pangan, lost in the finals against host country Malaysia, 271-391.

The Philippines is currently in sixth place in the medal tally with a 0-1-2 gold-silver-bronze record.
