Abu Dhabi Police warns motorists on road safety amid distraction-related crashes

Abu Dhabi Police has released a video showing a series of traffic accidents caused by motorists entering roads without ensuring they are clear, as well as incidents linked to driver distraction.

The footage, shared under its “You Comment” awareness campaign in coordination with the Monitoring and Control Centre, illustrates how brief lapses in attention or failure to check oncoming traffic can quickly lead to serious collisions.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate urged drivers to always ensure the road is clear before merging, stressing that precautionary measures are essential to road safety.

Motorists were also advised to avoid all forms of distraction and maintain full concentration while driving to better anticipate and respond to sudden hazards.

Authorities reminded the public that entering a road without ensuring it is clear carries a Dh400 fine and four black points, while distracted driving is punishable by a Dh800 fine and four black points.
