Malacañang criticized Vice President Sara Duterte over her response to questions President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s health, calling it “irresponsible.”
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said both the question posed to Duterte and her reply lacked responsibility, noting that the premise of a “worsening health condition” had no basis.
“Doon pa lang sa word na lumalalang kalusugan, alam natin na walang basehan pero itinanong pa rin sa kanya kaya ang nakuha rin natin sa Bise Presidente ay isang iresponsableng sagot… ‘Good luck,’ with a smile habang nagtatawanan ang nasa paligid niya,” Castro said.
She added that mocking or making light of someone’s supposed illness is not in line with Filipino values, especially if the issue is being used to discredit the President.
Duterte, when asked on Thursday about circulating online claims regarding Marcos’ health, simply replied, “Good luck sa kaniya,” without further elaboration.
Earlier, Marcos dismissed the speculation, assuring the public that he is in good condition and has resumed his regular routine over the past three months.
“I am back to my regular routine… patuloy ang aking ginagawa—watching my health, making sure that I am always ready to work,” the President said, urging the public not to believe unverified information circulating online.
Malacañang has repeatedly addressed the issue, maintaining that the President remains fit to perform his duties.
