Seven injured after ceiling collapse at NAIA Terminal 1 on Good Friday

Seven people were injured when a portion of the ceiling at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 collapsed on Good Friday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported.

The incident occurred in the arrival extension area of Terminal 1, leaving several victims with minor injuries, the agency said.

“Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez has immediately instructed the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and airport personnel, and to submit a detailed report explaining the cause of the incident,” DOTr said in a statement.

The agency added that it is closely monitoring the situation and expects a thorough assessment, including measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Operations at NAIA Terminal 1 continue as normal, according to the DOTr.
