PCG arrests 2 Chinese nationals in Zamboanga over fake travel documents

The Philippine Coast Guard reported Sunday that it arrested two Chinese citizens in Zamboanga City for allegedly possessing and using falsified documents intended for travel to Jolo, Sulu.

The suspects were apprehended on March 26 by Coast Guard Station Zamboanga and were turned over to the Bureau of Immigration for legal processing.

According to the PCG, the men claimed they could not understand English or local languages. Through the assistance of a translator, they were informed of their rights and the reason for their arrest.

The Coast Guard also coordinated with the Zamboanga City Health Office and the Bureau of Quarantine to facilitate medico-legal procedures, ensuring proper documentation and assessment.

The two Chinese nationals were presented before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Zamboanga for inquest proceedings, resulting in the filing of appropriate charges.

Following the proceedings, the suspects were returned to PCG custody pending further legal action and disposition, as advised by the Bureau of Immigration.
