Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has met with former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in a breakfast meeting in Manila on Wednesday.
The meeting was for further consultations according to Duterte and Arroyo but they did not disclose the nature of the consultations.
“Yes, I had lunch with FPGMA. No comment on other matters,” Duterte told reporters in a text message.

Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista of Hugpong ng Pagbabago, the regional party of Duterte was also present in the meeting.
Senator Sonny Angara believed that the Davao mayor is the candidate to beat in the 2022 elections.
“Mayor Sara and President Duterte are the candidates to beat in 2022,” Angara told GMA News.

The lawmaker said that the President retained his popularity even after the end of his term.
“The only thing that can derail his chosen successor is the failure to unite behind a single candidate, similar to how the people of President Noynoy Aquino backed different candidates in 2016,” Angara said. (TDT)
