In an online milestone, Philippine contestant Rabiya Mateo, who had been hailed as the most followed beauty queen so far, has become the first Miss Universe candidate to have more than 1 million followers on Instagram.
“Woke up with 1 Million followers! You guys are the best. Sending love to the rest of the universe. Today is a big day. Please pray for us,” Mateo said in an Instagram post.

Earlier, Mateo had participated in the national costume segment of the pageant along with 73 other candidates in Florida.
The Miss Universe 2020 coronation event is finally being held in Florida, USA tomorrow, May 17, 8 am (Manila time) after delays caused by the pandemic. (AW)
