New COVID-19 strain leads to high number of infections in UK

Different countries have started imposing a ban on British travellers after a new coronavirus strain was detected in the country.

Health officials said that the new coronavirus strain is ‘out of control’ leading to a high number of infections.

A WHO spokeswoman told AFP that countries need to exert more efforts to control the pandemic across Europe.

European countries like Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and the Netherlands only announced the suspension of air links, and in some cases rail and ferry links, with Britain.

The latest numbers from Worldometers reveal that cases of COVID-19 UK had increased by 27,052 in one day, with the total now at 2,046,161. (TDT)
