Worse COVID-19 wave could come in winter – CDC

The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said that the next wave of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) might hit in the winter with worse effects due to the start of the influenza season.
According to CDC Director Robert Redfield there is a possibility that the virus in the winter will be much more difficult to fight given that the season is also a time where flu epidemics occur.

In an interview with The Washington Post, he said “There’s a possibility that the assault of the virus next winter will actually be even more difficult than the one we just went through.”
He said that some countries might experience flu epidemic and COVID-19 epidemic at the same time, and that the combination will make the outbreak much harder to combat—especially for the hospitals.
As of April 23, COVID-19 has already infected over 2.6 million worldwide and has killed over 180,000 people across 210 countries.
