President Rodrigo Duterte believes that the country’s next president could come from the Bicol region.
Duterte made the revelation yesterday as he visited Legazpi, Albay to check the devastation caused by Typhoon Tisoy.
“The next president will come from Bicol. You have a choice of Salceda and Chiz Escudero,” Duterte said.
Both Salceda and Escudero were there during the post-assessment of the typhoon and the president expressed his satisfaction on the government’s response following the typhoon.
Duterte has discouraged Vice President Leni Robredo, another leader from Bicol, on seeking the presidency. Duterte has also discouraged his daughter Sara Duterte from running in the country’s top post.
