LeBron James has finally broken his silence on the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant.
In an Instagram post, James said that he was “heartbroken and devastated” by the tragic news.
Bryant and his daughter Gianna perished in a helicopter crash in Los Angeles on Sunday.
“I’m sitting here trying to write something for this post, but every time I try, I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi, and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had,” James said.
“I literally just heard your voice Sunday morning before I left Philly to head back to LA,” the basketball superstar added.
Bryant had reportedly called James after the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against Philadephia 76ers enabling James to surpass Bryant’s scoring list.
The late basketball superstar’s last tweet was also about James congratulating him on this new milestone.
“Continuing to move the game forward… much respect, my brother,” Bryant wrote.
“You mean so much to us all here, especially Laker Nation. It’s my responsibility to put this sh*t on my back and keep it going. Please give me the strength from the heavens above and watch over me,” James added.
“I got us here.”
