Transportation Secretary Art Tugade says they are on track and within the President’s timeline of opening Sangley Airport for commercial and domestic flights next month.
“Matatapos po ‘yung construction by end of October, I want it operational October na rin,” Tugade said.
Tugade revealed that the airport’s runway is already 100-percent complete while 70 percent of the passenger terminal buiding remains to be done.
Last June, President Rodrigo Duterte said he wants to move domestic flights to Sangley airport to ease the congestion at Ninoy Aquino International Aiport (NAIA).
The transportation chief said he is in talks with at least three airlines to move their operations at Sangley Airport.
