The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has repatriated 221 Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in Dubai through a special Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 0659 last September 24.
The DFA said in a statement that the repatriates included several children and two infants.
They arrived at the Ninoy Aquino Airport (NAIA) at around 08:25 AM (Manila time) on September 25.
The OFWs availed the repatriation assistance of the Department after being displaced from their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Also included in the repatriates were Filipinos availing of the ongoing immigration amnesty of the UAE government for those who have overstayed in the country.
The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai has so far facilitated the repatriation of 2,233 Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates who were affected by the pandemic.
As per DFA’s September 27 bulletin, the department said it has brought home a total 195,224 repatriates since February 2020.
