Bank payment, remittance in UAE remain normal amid rift with Qatar

Banking transactions in the United Arab Emirates are normal amid the breakup of diplomatic relations between Qatar and four Gulf nations.

The UAE Central Bank announced Wednesday that all payment and remittance operations remain normal.

The central bank has not set any restrictions on the transactions with Qatari banks, according to Arabian Business.

The central bank is also closely monitoring the situation and any developments to maintain stability of the emirates’ financial system.

Meanwhile, some banks in the Gulf region have started to discontinue businesses with Qatar-based financial institutions as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar to secure nations against “the dangers of terrorism and extremism”.
