Airport operations in Dubai will resume for returning UAE residents and transit passengers traveling to other destinations beginning May 27.

The emirate has officially announced that it will begin to allow the resumption of airport operations to facilitate returning residents and transit passengers after approval from authorities—with no movement restrictions from 6 AM to 11 PM. However, travelers are required to observe strict social distancing measures to ensure safety.

Recently, the UAE government has confirmed that it will welcome residents stranded in other countries by June as long as they secure a Residency Entry Permit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) and the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship (ICA).

The gradual reopening of economic activities in the emirate follows directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council.

Dubai authorities have outlined several general rules and regulations that all establishments should follow, including:

– Activities authorized to operate must abide by the timings of the national sterilization program

– Social distancing of 2 meters must be maintained by all

– All those returning from abroad must adhere to a 14-day quarantine.

– Masks are obligatory and must be worn at all times

Sterilization must continuously by carried out and only single-use utensils will be allowed.

– Violators of rules and guidelines will be fined, according to the type of violation

– Children under 12, elderly over 60 and those with chronic diseases and prone to infection, are not allowed to enter malls, cinemas, sports facilities, and educational institutes

“We urge all concerned entities in Dubai to intensify awareness efforts and ensure that everyone, at organizational and individual levels, adheres to the precautionary measures and guidelines to protect the well-being of our society,” said His Highness.
