Family of Filipino nurse in UK watches him succumb to COVID-19 in video call

A family of a fallen Filipino nurse from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) watched him succumb to the disease via a video call on April 27, an episode of GMA Public Affairs’s show “Frontliners” reported.
Cardiac research nurse Kenneth Lambatan was assigned to work at the front lines of the battle against the disease in early April, before he began showing symptoms including cold and fever.
His brother, Ezrel told “Frontliners” that he heard Lambatan tell his mom to pray for him as he is feeling sick.
His situation, however, worsened, and he was intubated in the ICU of St. George’s Hospital—the facility where he was working.

His friend and batch mate, Via Salinasal, told Lambatan’s family in “Frontliners” that he was dying and that it “would be in his best interest na we’ll let him go.”
At that point, the family has reluctantly decided to turn off his life support. According to GMA News, they watched his final hour through a video call—where the mother was heard crying and thanking her son.
“You are such a blessing to me and to our family, ‘Nak. Thank you for everything Nak, thank you,” she said in the video.
