DOH designates hospitals to exclusively handle COVID-19 patients

The Department of Health has assigned hospitals that will exclusively handle coronavirus disease or COVID-19 patients.
Health Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire said that the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City and the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Caloocan City will become COVID-19 exclusive centers.
The Philippine General Hospital has also agreed to become another hospital to handle COVID-19 patients.
“UP (University of the Philippines) PGH has been requested by the government through DOH to be one of the COVID 19 hospitals and they are very much willing to help,” the Health spokesperson said.
“They are now currently limiting services to non-COVID-19 cases to slowly transition to this plan. We have a meeting this afternoon to finalize the arrangements,” the statement added.
On Thursday, private hospitals appealed to the government to set up exclusive hospitals that will handle coronavirus patients.
The hospitals said they are running short of personal protective equipment and could no longer accommodate suspected patients.
