Some government officials are now in self isolation after their exposure to individuals who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a message and confirmation to reporters, Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez revealed that he was informed that he met a person last week who tested positive for COVID-19.
“I was told that a fellow I met with last Thursday and Friday has tested positive for COVID-19 today. I have no symptoms but am self isolating now until I get tested,” Dominguez said.
The Finance chief was with President Rodrigo Duterte when he discussed with Cabinet officials in Malacañang on Monday.
Senator Win Gatchalian also revealed that he will undergo quarantine after one of his resource persons tested positive for COVID-19.
“I have recently been informed that a resource person who attended the hearing of the Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture last March 5, 2020, which I Chair, has tested positive for COVID-19,” he said in a statement.
“Though I am asymptomatic and feel healthy, I will follow government set protocols on such cases and go into self-quarantine immediately given that I interacted with the said individual during that committee hearing. I instructed all my staff to do the same, especially those who had direct contact with the said person too,” he added.
