LOOK: Toyota Motors Philippines President shares plight of Filipino commuters

Toyota Motors Philippines president Atsuhiro Okamoto tried out public transportation in Metro Manila.
Photos of the newly appointed executive of TMP riding various modes of transportation went viral on Thursday.
“During my first week in the Philippines, I decided to do “Genchi Genbutsu,” or to “Go and See” the daily struggles of Filipino commuters,” he wrote.

He said he took a round trip of MRT, queued for a long time to ride the UV Express and also rode a tricycle to Tondo.  
Okamoto observed that the Philippines needs to improve its mass transport system to accommodate its huge number of commuters every day.
“For me, it’s a good learning experience,” he said.

He also expressed his intentions to cooperate with the Philippine government to improve the transport system in the country.
“I would like Toyota to take part in this big challenge to upgrade the quality of life for many Filipinos,” he said.
