The Department of Foreign Affairs has revealed that eight more Filipinos aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Dodo Dulay told CNN Philippines that most of the cases where ‘asymptomatic’ and are now being treated by Japanese health officials.
Dulay added that the planned evacuation of some 500 Filipino passengers and crews of the quarantines cruise ship will be discussed in a meeting.
There are 538 Filipinos in the Diamond Princess cruise, seven of them are passengers.
The ship will start to unload passengers on February 19, estimated disembarkation for Filipino crew will be on March 5.
COVID-19 has infected over 70,000 people and killed more than 1,800.
