San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Chairman Ramon Ang expressed his intention to extend the MRT 7 Project to Bocaue in Bulacan.
Initially, the MRT 7 project is slated to run from San Jose del Monte in Bulacan to North Avenue, Quezon City.
“We are in talks to connect [MRT 7] in San Jose del Monte to Bocaue,” Ang told local reporters.
He said that the extension will replace the original plan to connect an intermodal transport terminal in San Jose del Monte and Bocaue Interchange of North Luzon Expressway through a six-lane highway.
“This was the old road component. We want to make it a train,” he said.
The extension to Bocaue will provide another access to Philippine Arena, the world’s largest indoor stadium.
The 63-billion-peso MRT 7 is set to be operational by 2022.
