A tourist plunged to his death after trying to get a selfie by a waterfall in Thailand, Agence France Presse reported today.
The fatal accident took place at the tourist island of Koh Samui, famous for its white sand beaches and a site for backpackers as well as high-end tourists.
The French man fell at Na Mueang 2 waterfall, the same site where another Spanish tourist died in July.
“It took several hours to retrieve his body because the waterfall is slippery and steep,” police told the AFP.
Witnesses told police officials that the man tried to take a selfie, but slipped and fell to his death.
“His friend said he was trying to take a selfie and then he slipped and fell,” the witness said.
Thailand is among top tourist destinations in the world. More than 35 million tourists visit the country every year.
