Manila set to impose ban on ‘sampayan’ 

Manila is planning to implement an ordinance which would ban clutter and the traditional ‘sampayan’  or clothesline  hanging on the street.

The city council is studying Ordinance 8752 or the “Tapat Ko-Linis Ko” measure which would require all residential and commercial establishments to clean their surroundings, reported GMA News.

Once passed, hanging of clothes on wires , windows and posts for drying will be prohibited.

The city government will also ban washing and drying of clothes in gutters, sidewalks, streets, alleyways and roads.

Stiffer penalties await thoses who will dump trash on the roads and sidewalks.

Residents will not be allowed to have plants or animals that is beyond their properties.

“Babango o aaliwalas and from there, gaganda ang perspektibo ng tao. Susunod doon, baka maengganyo natin ang mga negosyate,” Moreno said.
