Canada to hire 2,000 Filipinos every year

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced that Canada’s Yukon territory will be hiring 2,000 skilled workers every year.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Philippine and Yukon labor officials last week, it was learned.

Yukon is located in the northern part of Canada which has a population of 20,000 individuals.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said Yukon is in need of nurses, engineers, heavy equipment or machine operators, chefs, and teachers.

Minimum salary starts at Php80,000 monthly.

Bello said he has ordered the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to fast track the application and hiring process.

The POEA said that since it’s a government-to-government agreement, applicants can expect that there will be no placement fees in the hiring process.

Interested job seekers can check the POEA website regularly.
