The Department of Labor and Employment is readying its emergency employment for those who are displaced by the halting of the operations of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
DOLE Sec. Silvestre Bello III made this assurance as they wait for the report from PCSO on the number of employees who will lose their jobs as a result of the order of President Rodrigo Duterte.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Benjo Benavidez said they will still coordinate with PCSO on this matter, the Inquirer reported.
But the emergency employment would be somewhat similar to what they implemented in Boracay island when it was closed for rehabilitation last year.
However, he said PCSO is still capable of paying the salaries of its employees. He added that PCSO should also continue to pay the salaries of its worker despite the order of Duterte.
As of Sunday, July 28, there were a total of 5,187 PCSO lotto outlets that had been ordered closed.
