The remains of the Filipina who was killed and abducted by a serial killer in Cyprus has been flown back to the country.
Mary Rose Tiburcio was found in a mine in Cyprus last April. She was murdered by Nikos Metaxas a Cyprus National Guard, according to court documents.
Metaxas also confessed to the killing of Tiburcio’s 6 year-old daughter, and 2 other Filipina migrants Maricar Arquiola, and Arian Lozano.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) received the remains of two Filipinas who fell victim to serial killings in Cyprus as they arrived in the Philippines on the evening of 27 July 2019,” the DFA said in a statement.
“The DFA, through the Philippine Embassy in Athens, continues to monitor the case of the last Filipina victim, Arian Palanas Lozano, as to when her remains will be repatriated,” thee DFA added.
The killer has been handed down seven life sentences last month after pleading guilty to killing five women, including the three Filipinas, and two children.
