A store in Cebu City is offering it products in exchange of plastic trash.
‘Plastic Barter Store’ accepts washable and recyclable plastics like water bottle, sachets and food packs.
The plastic items have corresponding number of kilos in exchange of an item.
Coming from the word ‘barter’ which means trading of products to products, an old style Filipino business system.
The initiative was launched by 12 Baskets Movement to reduce plastic use in Cebu City. The plastic which will be collected will go to a shredding facility in Talisay City to convert it to hollow blocks.
The store said they are prioritizing scavengers or individuals rather than companies.
