Pacquiao urges netizens to ‘stop the hate’ following ‘Headstart’ interview with Davila

Senator Manny Pacquiao has issued an official statement for everyone after his recent interview with the internationally-acclaimed veteran reporter Karen Davila at ANC’s Headstart.

In the video uploaded at ABS-CBN News, Karen Davila was asking if Manny Pacquiao agrees to the proposition that senators should be college graduates before they qualify for the position.

Pacquiao agreed but Davila quickly quipped that if that would be the case, the boxing champ ‘might not qualify’.

“Nag-a-aral naman ako”, retorted Pacquiao. When to Davila’s surprise, when she asked about what degree and when Pacquiao would be finishing his studies, Pacquiao simply said: “Malapit na.”

Davila then attempted to press and ask further where the school is, but Pacquiao said that he will just whisper it to Davila off cam.

Many netizens weren’t impressed as to how Davila questioned the Senator, saying the she was ‘rude’ and that her demeanor was ‘disrespectful’.

In an attempt to stop spreading the hate, the Senator issued an official statement, urging netizens to stop bashing Davila, saying that he was never offended with any of her questions and that Davila was just doing her job.

Here is Senator Manny Pacquiao’s full statement:

“This is in line with my recent interview with Ms. Karen Davila on Headstart which has been circulating online. This is my fourth time to be invited and have a sit down interview with Ms. Karen Davila. For the record, I was never offended by her manner of questioning.

I never quit and I never stop challenging myself. I continue learning not only in academics but also in life. I never quit and I never stop challenging myself. I continue learning not only in academics but also in life. With God’s wisdom, I am pursuing formal education because it is important to gain deeper knowledge and better understanding on what is happening around us.

Sa lahat ng pagsubok, tandaan po natin: God is good all the time!”
