Filipino student drowns in New Zealand

A Filipino student died after he drowned at Whangarei Falls in Northland, New Zealand, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced.

The student, identified as 26-year-old Kent Espinosa, was swimming with his friends during the incident.

Espinosa was on his school break from Auckland when the incident happened.

Ambassador Jesus Domingo of the Philippine Embassy in Wellington said the Embassy is coordinating with New Zealand authorities for the issuance of appropriate visas for his sister who will fly from the Philippines to bring home his remains.

DFA also extended its condolences to the loved ones of Filipino student .
