New batch of OFWs from UAE arrives in PH in amnesty scheme’s final week

Another batch of Filipino grantees of the amnesty program offered by the UAE government returned home on Friday, November 23.

Onboard Philippine Airlines Flight PR 657, the latest batch of OFWs from Abu Dhabi arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 around 8:30 a.m.

Transportation allowance was given to each OFW upon arrival in Manila. This will be used for their traveling expenses to their respective provinces.

Those that have to travel far were also given the choice to temporarily stay in a shelter provided by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

All of them also received Php5,000 financial assistance from the government.

Under the amnesty program, overstaying expats in the UAE are given the opportunity to rectify their immigration status or to return to their home countries.

DFA continues to urge overstaying OFWs in the UAE, or those with absconding cases, to avail of the opportunity to return home before the program ends on December 1.
