Dubai Metro timing, free parking on Nov. 18 announced

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority announced that public parking will be free across Dubai on Sunday, November 18 in celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

On the holiday of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, all paid parking zones will be free on the said date. However, multi-level parking terminals will remain charging fees as usual. Parking fees will be reactivated on Monday, November 19.

For Dubai Metro commuters, the Red Line will start operation from 05:00 am to 12:00 midnight, and the Green Line stations will start at 05:30 am and continue open up to 12:00 midnight.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism and Commerce has confirmed that a dry night will be observed across Dubai from November 19 to November 20 in observance of PBUH holiday.

From 5pm on Monday, Nov. 19 until 6pm on Tuesday, Nov. 20, hotels, restaurants, and all outlets in Dubai can only serve soft drinks to its customers.

Martyr’s Day

Earlier, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, proclaimed November 30, Friday, as Martyr’s Day or Commemoration Day to be held to remember the heroic deeds of the nation’s martyrs. Since the holiday falls on a Friday, no additional day may be given to workers in the private sector.

UAE National Day

Before year-end, the UAE will also celebrate the UAE National Day to commemorate the founding of the union of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. This will be celebrated on December 2, Sunday, and December 3, Monday. If both days will be declared as holidays, workers will be able to enjoy a four-day long weekend before the year ends.
