Philippines ranks 3rd in biggest remittances sent among expats in the UAE

Overseas Filipino workers (OFW) sent home the third biggest remittances among other expatriates working in the UAE.

Dh44.4 billion were remitted by expatriates in the Emirates to their countries, says the Central Bank of the UAE.

In their quarterly report, the Central Bank revealed the top expatriates who sent home the most money from April to June 2018.

Indian nationals working in the UAE showed the most funds transferred at 39.6 percent or almost Dh17.6 billion. This was followed by Pakistan who sent an estimated Dh3.8 billion or 8.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Filipino workers in the UAE sent home Dh3.2 billion or 7.1 percent of the entire remittances from the Emirates. This is the third biggest remittance sent home by expatriates in the UAE despite the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ report of the decrease of OFWs remittances.
